Golden Era of Indian Medical Education

According to the diary of the medical Council of India, the country has 273 medical colleges in the entire India. The total capacities of the institutes are to train 31,298 medical students. All the medical institutes, known as the medical colleges in India, are medical schools. Most of the medical institutes were set up in the coutry, on late 50's or the early 60's. And these all are Government medical institutes. But from the 1980 onwards, the country has witnessed the enormous growth of the private medical colleges in India.

private medical colleges first started in few states of the southern part of the country, Especially Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka, has the numerous number of private medical colleges, running successfully. In India, the basic qualification or degree in the Medical studies is called MBBS. After completing this course, one can study post graduate course in any of the specialized area of medical. Known as, MD. The duration of the degree course in the medical studies are 5 years, and in specialization post graduate is 3 years. Students from the Indian medical colleges are working successfully in all across the world, especially in Middle East, USA, and China. ??Even students now prefer to earn abroad higher degrees also.
